Boron should also be of interest to those concerned about fluoridation of drinking water supplies. A Boron supplement may be taken as an antidote to excess fluoride.
It is known that boron can counteract detrimental effects of fluorosis, (replacement of bone calcium by fluorides), inactivating the fluoride by reacting with it to form a harmless compound. Some of the clinical symptoms of fluorosis mimic arthritis - the first two clinical phases of skeletal fluorosis could be easily misdiagnosed.
Aluminium, linked to Alzheimer's disease, can also be counteracted by boron; the use of boron may therefore also have beneficial implications in that condition.

Note: Dentists have begun to notice that the teeth of those taking boron supplements are subject to fewer dental caries than the norm. (A.R.N.T.R.A. journal, Autumn 2000)
